Although we do have many slabs to choose from in our yard, our space is too limited to stock all of the possible slab combinations.
We purchase our material from the finest distributors in the area and you do have the option to view their live inventory online and in person. On this page, you will find the contact information for the stone wholesalers that are located within the state of Connecticut.
We recommend that you schedule an appointment, with the wholesaler of your choice, to view slabs. An appointment guarantees that someone will be available to walk with you and answer your questions.
Every supplier will have you fill out a “selection sheet” that will contain the names of any colors that may interest you. Once your visit is completed, they will fax your color selection to us and then we will be able to give you updated pricing information. You do have an option to “hold” slabs that greatly interest you. The duration of the hold will depend on the supplier — anywhere from three to fourteen days. Once the hold period expires, then the suppliers are free to sell the slabs to someone else. Therefore, it is important to get us the information, that is required to give you an estimate, right away.

Why You Look at the Actual Slab, Not Just a Sample
A sample chip only a few inches across can’t show you what a full slab actually looks like. Natural stone varies from slab to slab, even within the same named color — veining, mineral color, and pattern movement can look noticeably different from one piece to the next. That’s exactly why we send you to see the wholesaler’s actual inventory in person rather than choosing from a swatch: what you see on the slab is what your countertop will look like, with no surprises on install day.
How to Tag or Hold a Slab
Once you find a slab you like, ask the wholesaler to tag it in your name. Most suppliers will hold a tagged slab for a few days to a couple of weeks (see the hold policy above), which gives you time to finalize your decision without losing it to another buyer. Be sure to mention that Gothic Marble & Granite will be doing your fabrication — this makes it easy for the wholesaler to confirm the hold with us directly. Once your slab is tagged, let us know right away so we can get your project templated before the hold expires.
Reading Veining, Fissures & Pattern Direction
Veining is the mineral banding that runs through a slab. Take note of which direction it runs — this helps us plan any seams so the pattern continues naturally across your countertop instead of interrupting it.
Fissures are small natural surface-level separations found in many marbles and some granites. They’re a normal feature of the stone, not a defect, but it’s worth pointing them out and asking about them while you’re at the yard so they’re never a surprise later.
Pattern direction is the way a slab’s movement, or grain, flows. Deciding which way you want that movement to run across your kitchen — toward the sink, along the run of cabinets, and so on — is easiest to do standing in front of the actual slab, before it’s ever cut.
Using Remnants for Vanities and Small Projects
Most wholesalers keep a remnant section — leftover offcuts and partial slabs sold at a steep discount. If you’re looking to do a bathroom vanity, a small bar top, or another compact project, a remnant is often the most affordable way to get a premium stone that would otherwise be out of budget for a full kitchen.
